Let’s face it, most modern ovens have loads more in the way of features than their older counterparts did. Some people still have old ovens today that have nothing but an oven and grill, and a temperature gauge. Can you imagine not even having a timer on your built in oven that you can rely on?
In any event we don’t have such worries with new ovens. For instance you can choose whether you want to use the top element, the bottom element or both when it comes to making sure your cooking gets just the right treatment it deserves. A brand new oven can literally make all the difference to the quality of your cooking as well. We have heard of some people saying they could never cook things like Yorkshire pudding or sponge cakes without them sinking to the bottom of the tin. But when they bought a new built in oven it was a very different story. One person even admitted to cleaning the top of the oven because the Yorkshire pudding hit the roof unexpectedly!
As you can see, it could be that your existing oven is just doing the job. Could a new oven do so much better? It could well be the case. And in this situation you would probably become a lot more confident about trying different dishes and recipes that you have never tried before.
It certainly makes a difference to have an oven that you feel confident in using. When your new built in oven arrives, make sure you spend some time reading through the instruction manual to find out how it works. There is a temptation not to do this with an oven, because after all we all know roughly how they work. But it may have features you are unfamiliar with, and it could be these very features that lead you towards a more confident cooking future.
In truth not everyone loves cooking. But if you do you will enjoy the idea of being able to experiment more readily, now that you have an oven you can rely on. No matter whether you have an oven that slots under the counter, or you have a double oven that goes into a tall unit, you will find new uses for it that bring the enjoyment back to your cooking endeavours.
